Hi, I'm Alex
The engineer behind Wild Code Monkey
Silicon Valley native
I grew up in the SF Bay Area surrounded by technologists, entrepreneurs and the burgeoning tech of the dotcom boom. Originally a self-taught developer, I spent my childhood learning C++ and OpenGL in the pursuit of making video games. At this point I was certain I would pursue a career in game development, but instead I soon found myself at the center of an advanced R&D project in defense education; this would prove to be some of the most impactful and formative work in my career.
Researcher
Over the next several years I worked closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and educators to build the first AI learning platform that surpassed the goal of solving Bloom's 2-sigma problem. After helping to revolutionize the education of countless IT professionals I moved on to work on a variety of projects in other areas of EdTech, project management, web design and more.
Life-long learner
Throughout my life I have been motivated by the desire to create; this has driven me to pursue knowledge, skills and experience in a wide variety of fields. I am a passionate learner and love to help bring the same quality out in others, both directly through mentorship and indirectly through the technologies I help build. Having received the gift of excellent mentorship throughout my career I am always seeking to pay it forward.
Pacific Northwest transplant
I now live on the Oregon coast with my wife, Kelsey, our Barbet, Cinder, and our three cats. Together we enjoy exploring Oregon, cultivating our land, frolicking in our local forests and growing, cooking and eating delicious food. I also personally enjoy spending my free time learning new technologies, tinkering with electronics, cultivating gourmet mushrooms and learning to make music.
